Aftercare
- Keep bandage on your new tattoo for 2-5 hours.
- When you remove the bandage, wash thoroughly with a mild, unscented soap (e.g., Dove, Ivory) and rinse with cool water ( If bandage sticks to tattoo, wet to loosen and pat dry.)
- Apply a small amount (pea sized amount is more than enough for a palm sized tattoo) of Aquaphor 2-5 times throughout the day. DO NOT leave a layer of ointment on top of the tattoo, as this can "suffocate" a tattoo and cause a rash. If rash occurs, discontinue use and allow tattoo to dry out. ( WARNING! only let dry out if rash occurs.)
- No swimming, saunas, or soaking in water for 2 weeks. ( Wash tattoo often in shower or sink only; avoid direct spray.)
- Keep tattoo out of sun and wind (yeah, we know where we are at) for two weeks.
- Some scaling and/or scabbing is normal and can be expected. Do not remove this scale by picking or scratching or loss of color and shading will occur.
- You may experience some loss of color intensity after tattoo is healed, this in normal. Remember, you are looking at you tattoo through layers of skin.
- Contact ALTERED IMAGES if you have any questions concerning your new tattoo.
- Contact a healthcare professional at first sign of infection or allergic reaction.
- Tattoo aftercare is your responsibility. the care it receives in the initial healing period will permanently affect its appearance. USE YOUR HEAD!
